Textured Bottle with Cork
July 3, 2017
Â
White stoneware clay, with a white glaze applied. Where the glaze is thin over the texture it is a lovely orangish hue. Where the glaze is thicker it has a creamy white color. The contrast of smooth soft glaze and combed texture is esthetically pleasing and aids in functionality. The lines going in different directions give an amazing amount of visual movement to the piece as your eyes follow them around the outside. When light hits this piece it is reflected in such an interesting way, like the facets of a diamond, it really shines. Gas fired bottle with cork stopper, fired to cone 10, great for oils, flowers soap, and more! This bottle has a lot of good things going on. I really like the way the glaze looks over the ridges of this bottle. The texture of this lovely piece makes it easier to hold on to, and less likely to slip out of your hand, than a smooth bottle. Could be used as a small vase too.
